Hello!
The War Memorial Ramp Renovation (WMRR) Campaign was set up by a group of young Coventry skateboarders in February 2019. Our aim is to provide the city’s action sports enthusiasts with a bespoke, state of the art facility that can accommodate the burgeoning community.

As the skatepark is now over 20 years of age, it is showing serious signs of wear and tear - many users feel it is no longer safe to ride. The park also lacks the challenge and interest of newer builds meaning many people choose to ride street spots in the city centre or near their homes, or further afield. Our current talent has to travel outside of the city in order to train for competitions and events. In short, Coventry is in desperate need of a larger and better quality skatepark.

A new skatepark in Coventry would have a significant impact on the community as it would provide the space and variety required to stimulate the community and encourage the next generations to take part.

WMRR Campaign Objectives:

-
To provide a free, public, and accessible, action sports facility for BMX, WCMX, skateboarding, inline/quad skates, and scooters in the War Memorial Park, Coventry.

-
To provide a facility that is designed by the community, for the community.
-
To promote and encourage action sports at the skatepark by involving public participation
or visual enjoyment from these sports.
-
To foster an on-going community project in partnership with Coventry City Council, local
authorities, voluntary organisations and residents of Coventry.
-
To provide a space for social and sporting activities for the users of inline/quad skates, skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes and WCMX to pursue their activities in a safe environment and to minimize danger to themselves and members of the public.
-
To discourage young people from using public roads, pavements, disused areas and private property for these activities.

-
To fund and organise legacy events at the new skatepark to help revitalise the community.
